Issues in Financial Reporting - free sample - Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Discuss about the Issues in Financial Reporting. Answer: Introduction: This assignment focuses on how the different financial adjustments affect the two main income statements of the company; namely the consolidated profit loss account and the consolidated balance sheet. The discussion has been done with respect to the given case study of a company named Marvin Co. Ltd whose financial statements are being prepared on 31st December, 2016 as per the accounting standards of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) (Choi and Wang, 2009).In this assignment, study has been done regarding the impact of lease contract, Warranty maintenance cost, property revaluation and cost of paying employee termination benefit and bankruptcy of the customer or debtor over the financial health of the chosen company named Marvin Co. Ltd.In order to analyse the impact the relevant journal entries has been discussed and also the changes that will take place in the consolidated balance sheet and profit loss account of the company are being identified. BODY The Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS): The organization of IFRS is a not-for-profit organization that works for the interest to f the public and has been established to develop a single set of high-quality, understandable, enforceable and globally accepted accounting standardsIFRS Standards. The organization is also involved in the promotion and facilitation of the accounting rules so that the business organization can easily adopt the accounting standards(Li, 2010). The reason behind the development of the accounting standards is to provide understandable accounting principles to all the companies across the world so that the companies get equipped with a set of accounting principles that can be easily use d while preparing their financial statements. A set of good accounting principles is needed to properly regulate the global as a well as the regional capital market (Chen et al.,2010). 1 .Impact of lease contract made between the companies Irish and Marvin Co. Ltd on the consolidated Balance sheet P/L account As per the IFRS-16 accounting standard the following entries are to be made with respect to the lease contract made between the Marvin Co. Ltd and the Company Irish Relevant Journal Entries At the end of first year when first instalment of lease has been paid Right-of-use asset a/c......Dr$400,000 To lease liability a/c.....Cr $400,000 At the end of 2nd year when 2nd instalment of lease has been paid Right-of-use asset a/c......Dr$400,000 To lease liability a/c.....Cr $400,000 At the end of 3nd year when 3rd instalment of lease has been paid Right-of-use asset a/c......Dr$200,000 To lease liability a/c.....Cr $200,000 In the consolidated balance sheet of the lease liability will be added to the liability side of the balance sheet. So the liability of the consolidated balance sheet prepared on 31 December,2016 will increase by $400,000 Journal entry for the interest payment on the lease Journal entry for the payment of interest on lease at the end of first year P/L account ........Dr.$40,000 To Expense a/c ...... Cr. $40,000 Journal entry for the payment of interest on lease at the end of second year P/L account ........Dr.$40,000 To Expense a/c ........ Cr. $40,000 Journal entry for the payment of interest on lease at the end of third year P/L account ........Dr.$20,000 To Expense a/c ....... Cr. $20,000 From the above journal entry it can be seen that an additional interest expense will be added to the debit side of the profit and loss account and the debit side of the consolidated profit and loss account increase will increase by $40,000 (Kieso et al.,2010). The machine has a 3 years period of life but as no information has been given regarding the rate of depreciation, therefore no journal entry has been made in relation to the depreciation of machine The above journal entries are mainly done with respect to the account of Marvin Co. Ltd Impact of Warranty related returns on the financial position of Marvin Co. Ltd Provision for warranty made by Marvin Co. Ltd is $300,000. The relevant journal entry: Warranty Expenses. ......dr. $300,000 To Warranty Payable:.........cr. $300,000 Provision for warranty made by Marvin Co. Ltd is $300,000 is equivalent to 2% of the total gross margin So the total gross margin is =$150, 00, 000[($300,000/2%)*100] All equipments in the range are sold at a gross margin of 30% which is equivalent to $150, 00,000 So the actual volume of sales is $500,00, 000 2% of the sold amount is actually expected to return which is an amount of $10, 00, 000 Estimated actual Warranty Liability: $10, 00, 000 Warranty payable a/c.......dr $10, 00, 000 To Cash inventory a/c .............cr $10, 00, 000 So the provision made for warranty liability has to be enhanced by 3 times Initially the provision for warranty of the company was around $300,000.This amount was only 2% of the gross margin. So the total volume of the gross margin is around $150, 00,000 and as the products of this range are sold at a profit margin of 30%, therefore the total amounts of sales will be $500, 00, 000.As per the historical report 2% of the total goods sold $500,00, 000 is returned for warranty replacements and if the replacements is not possible , then full refund will be given to the customers at the cost of the company(Wehrfritz and Haller,2014). Thus provision for warranty has to be enhanced by 3 times. Thus the warranty payable amount of $10, 00, 000 should be debited to the profit and loss account as warranty expense. Impact property revaluation over the financial position of Marvin Co. Ltd The financial analysis has been done as per IAS 36- Impairment of Assets The carrying value [Purchase value of the property-Accumulated Depreciation] of the property is $80,000,000 Annual depreciation for the year 2016 is $20, 00,000 So the carrying amount will be ($80,000,000-$20, 00,000)= $78,000,000 After revaluation the fair value of the property is around $70,000,000 As the fair value of the property is less than the carrying amount therefore there will be a downward adjustment. The amount of the downward adjustment is ($78,000,000-$70,000,000) = $8,000,000 Relevant Journal Entries Revaluation loss a/c.........dr.$8,000,000 To Building a/c ........cr. $80,000,000 Here the business has applied the revaluation model. The carrying value of the property on 31 December, 2016 was around $80,000,000.The carrying value of a property is calculated by deducting the accumulated depreciation from the Purchase value of the property. In order to calculate the new carrying amount of the property on 31, December, 2016, the depreciation of the year that amounts to $20, 00,000 has been deducted from the previous carrying amount to calculate the new carrying amount of $78,000,000.As the revaluated fair value of the asset is less than the new carrying amount of the property so Marvin Co. Ltd has to make a downward adjustment in its books of accounts (Cairns et al., 2011). The amount of revaluation loss has to be deducted from the value of the property that is present under the fixed asset section of the consolidated balance sheet. Impact of paying the termination benefit over the financial health of Marvin Co. Ltd The managing director Mr John Dickens has received a termination benefit of $500,000, on 31, January, 2017 as he has been dismissed on 31 December, 2016 So the journal entry to be drawn in the books of accounts of Marvin on 31, January, 2017 will be Relevant Journal Entries Profit loss account........ dr. $500,000 To Employee termination benefit a/c ...... cr. $500,000 As the employee has been terminated by the company so it is the duty of the company to meet up his all the promised compensation which the terminated employee is eligible to get. On termination the company has cleared the pending amount of $500,000 that is paid by the company on January, 2017(Liapis and Thalassinos, 2013).Thus this amount has to be debited from the consolidated profit loss account of the company as employee termination benefit expense Due to the liquidation of one of the customer of Marvin Co. Ltd on January, 2017 the company realized that the amount of $ 1 million that is owed by the customer to Marvin Co. Ltd on 31, December, 2016 will be transformed in to bad debt. So the interest amount that is accrued on the amount of debt is $0.2 million .Thus the total bad debt amount of the company is around $1.2 million. This amount of bad debt has to be deducted from the trade receivables [present under the current asset sector of the consolidated balance sheet of the company]. Recommendations: The study of the above financial issues with respect to the company named Marvin Co. Ltd reveals the fact that the financial department of the company has to increase their focus towards the projection of the possible future losses that may heat the financial operations as well as a the asset liability position of the company. A good focus to be given over the maintenance of the fixed asset of the company so that the company get a good revaluation value of the asset that remains higher than the carrying cost of the property. Property maintenance initiative will help the company to avoid the impairment losses. Besides the company should hold a detailed work to estimate the warranty related cost which the business may have to incur with respect to the goods and services sold. As the policy of the company is to provide full return of purchase price or full replacement with respect to the goods that have been returned under warranty contract, mis-calculation of warranty related cost may badly affect the profit earning capacity of the company. Proper projection has also to be done regarding the costs of employee termination cost, revaluation of assets. The company should identify the doubtful debtors well in advance so that the company can calculate the possible impact of a sudden wind up of a debtor which owes a lot to the company.A sudden liquidation of a debtor badly affects the liquidity as well as current asset position of the company. Conclusion: The above assignment describes that a s the business runs certain financial issues crop up with no prior intimation (Borio, 2011). An efficient business management requires that there should be sufficient human resource and liquid capital resource within the company to handle these issues efficiently. For example in case of the given case study the company Marvin Co. Ltd has to purchase a new machinery of worth $1,300,000 and the company decided to purchase that machine in instalments. This issue or activity requires that the business should have sufficient liquid cash to handle to pay the annual requirement and additionally the finance department of the company has to identify the possible impact of this machine purchase on the financial health of the company in terms of profit and loss statements and balance sheet analysis. Again the warranty cost calculation of the company requires that the company should study the historical data in order to understand the trend of the volume of warranty return before building the provision for warranty. King Arthur And Zeus Essay Example For Students
King Arthur And Zeus Essay Inside the compilation of mythical stories of King Arthur and His Knights of theRound Table, retold by Roger Green, and Heroes, Gods, and Monsters of the GreekMyths, two major characters in each story that could be expressed in similar andcontrasting ways are Arthur, the king and head of the knights of the RoundTable, and Zeus, the supreme leader of all gods and mortals. Similarresemblances that can be found in both is their shadowy lineage, their majormortal flaws, and their nature to journey on epic quests. Even though they werevery similar in some aspects, the two were also very different in other means. Arthur is much more kind to his people and cares about them, while Zeus does notview his subjects as worthy of him and treats them unjustly. An additionaldifference is Arthur is more mild and not taking harsh action all the time, though Zeus is known for being severe. There are many similarities as well asdifferences that are attributed to these two mythical characters. Arthur andZeus can be noted for their mysterious childhood and ways they were treated atinfancy. Both had prophesies of prosperity that led them into adulthood. WhenArthur was born, Uther Pendragon, the leader of the Britons, killed a man andmarried his wife, Igrayne. Uther and Igrayne had one child, but not much longerafter it was born, Merlin the enchanter took him away. Soon after, the boy wasplaced in the arms of Sir Ector, a noble knight. Later, the youth pulled thesword out of a stone that proclaimed that he was the king of all Britain. Thisyoung man would later on grow up to be King Arthur. Not unlike Arthur, Ze us alsohad a unnatural background. Before Zeus was born, there was a prophecy thatstated that Cronos, the king of all gods, would be overthrown by one of hissons. When Zeus was born, he was concealed from his father. As time went by,Zeus waged a war against Cronos and defeated him. Though Zeus and Arthur camefrom entirely different locations and times, their childhoods were related onaccount of both of them being hazy. Even though some might not consider eitherof the two mortal, Arthur and Zeus had very notable human-like flaws. Theyboth seemed to rush to judgements hastily, and were very passionate towardswomen. When Arthur hears about King Pellinore and how he is shamelessly killingknights, Arthur runs off to fight. Obviously, Arthur does not give himself timeto think, and would have died if it was not for Merlin. Another example would bewhen Arthur runs off to the Castle of Tarn Wathelyne and pays no heed to SirGawains warnings. King Arthur ends up being tricked by Morgana Le Fay andwould perish save a horrid woman who forced Sir Gawain to marry her for KingArthurs life. Many times King Arthur would have been killed if it werentfor his friends such as Merlin and Sir Gawain. Zeus showed the samecharacteristic even though it played no part in death for himself. The mightygod jumped to his feet and killed when he found out that Ascelpsius was curingmortals headed to the underworld. Later, Zeus regretted his act of terror andbrought Ascelpsius back to life. Passionate feelings for other women, and desirefor romance were huge faults in Arthur and Zeus. Arthurs feelings forGuinevere led to the downfall of the Logres. At first, when Arthur saw Guinevere,he immediately fell in love with her. Through carelessness and desire forromance, Arthur neglected Merlins advice of not marrying the queen. WhenGuinevere and Lancelot had an affair, a war started, and the realm wasdestroyed. In Zeus case, the gods are not affected by romantic affairs, butthe mortals they make love with are affected. Zeus approached many differentgods or mortals, even though he is already married to Hera. Hera occasionallyfollowed Zeus, and punished the ones with whom he had affairs. The mythicalfigures Arthur and Zeus both have major moral flaws: rashness and crave forpassion. King Arthur and Zeus are best known for their epic quests andaccomplishments. The two figures seem to be born for the reason to journey onadventures. At age sixteen, Arthur ruled as the king of all Britons. Heimmediately set forth to drive all of the Saxons out of the island of Britain. .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc , .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc .postImageUrl , .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc , .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc:hover , .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc:visited , .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc:active { border:0!important; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc:active , .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uf1b7ab10d71686eba9dfbae957f015dc:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Rosa Parks EssayThis could be considered his first major quest. During his life span, Arthurwould set out on many quests to retrieve, and to kill. He journeyed to KingPellinores land to fight, and he fought his final battle against Sir Mordred. He died while fulfilling his last quest; killing Mordred. Zeus started hisadventures immediately after he was born and hidden from his father, Cronos. Zeus led a battle, and defeated Cronos and his army of Titans. Afterwards, Zeuswas not as concerned about adventuring out to enforce laws, but he desiredpassion. Though Zeus only journeyed on crusades very few times, he and Arthurare known for the ways they both mythically adventured on quests. The two greatfigures, Arthur and Zeus, have many similarities; yet the pair is very differenton their attitudes of ruling their subjects. The King of the Logres had a verylaid back ruling style. He enforces laws, but is very lenient and he lets thepeople live freely. After Arthur was crowned king, he set the rules of nobilityand honor. His main concern was his own generosity and his leadership. Arthurknew that he was not the strongest or the best of the knights, but he was one ofthe purest. He knew that he could not lead his knights with an iron fist or elsethey would rebel against him. On the other hand, Zeus, was a very harsh,all-mighty dictator. He was the strongest and controlled all morta ls and theirdestiny. Zeus has only one way of thinking, his way. When Prometheus asks himabout mans suffering without fire, he casually explains that man is happy nowwithout fire and the dismisses Prometheus with a warning. Zeus desire is tohave all of the mortals and immortals lives in his grasp. He does not likethe idea of not being in control. While Arthur is trying to set up a harmoniousliving space, Zeus is being very harsh and unforgiving towards his people. Ironically, it turns out that Arthur fails in his mission to set up a peacefullocation after corruption strikes, while the subjects of Zeus turn out to becontent at the moment. Arthur, the mythical figure who arose from the Dark Ages, and Zeus, the Greek King that ruled over the people, can be compared togethervery easily or can be contrasted easily too. Both Arthur and Zeus had mysteriousorigins, moral flaws, and their everlasting pursuit of quests. They also haddistinctive and opposite styles of ruling their people. The attributes match upvery closely for these two great mythical figures, yet they both had differentoutcomes in their lives.

Effects of the Internet
Introduction The dawn of the internet phenomenon has completely changed the way people conduct their daily activities. The internet allows people to access various forms of information at all times from any location (Serbin 9). The internet presents immeasurable convenience in undertaking activities such as payment of household utility bills. It also enables people to shop in the comfort of their homes without having to travel to shopping malls.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Effects of the Internet specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The concept of virtual shopping is unique and convenient because it simplifies the shopping experience by ensuring that people do not encounter queues that are usually common in conventional shopping malls (Serbin 11). The above statements exemplify and amplify the benefits of the internet revolution. However, the momentous growth of the internet is also a cause for concern because it comes with its challenges and negative effects (Serbin 11). For instance, the internet enables people to access pornographic materials without much effort. This situation is challenging because some of the pornographic materials are accessible to young people who should not have access to such adult content. The internet is also a hub for false information and other forms of inappropriate posturing. Conmen and tricksters use the internet as an avenue for conducting their fraudulent activities (Serbin 12). Discussion In modern world, the internet is undisputedly a necessary and vital part of our daily living. The internet is ubiquitous and supportive in performing various tasks at home, school, and even in the office (Serbin 15). The invention of the internet heralded a cocktail of advantages and disadvantages that manifest in our everyday activities. One advantage of the internet is that it enables people to access crucial research materials at all times (Serbin 18). The internet p rovides a rare variety in terms of basic and simple information to complex research ideas and materials. The internet also avails news information from all parts of the world. In fact, the internet era is characterised by availability of tonnes of information regarding different subjects of interest to humanity (Gehring 34). Through the internet, people have the ability to access regular updates on weather patterns in different location around the world.Advertising Looking for essay on communications media? Through internet-based learning, children expose themselves to information that fosters their understanding and approach to crucial matters in life. The internet is also convenient and enables people to engage in more than one activity at a given time. For instance, a person can engage in household chores and pay their utility bill over the internet at the same time. The internet allows people to conduct their businesses with an amazing degree of flexibility that was impossible before its invention (Gehring 35). The benefits of the internet are many and diverse. Most notable is the emergence and development of search engines over the internet. Search engines enable people to access crucial information within a short period. Search engines are crucial internet features that increase and enhance the vitality and applicability of the internet (Gehring 37). The internet has a number of disadvantages that give rise to negative effects among its users. One disadvantage of the internet is the availability of pornographic content that is easily available, even to underage audiences (Cavalier 42). This issue continues to create challenges to parents as they struggle to bar their children from accessing such materials over the internet (Cavalier 42). Th e internet is also disadvantageous because fraudsters use it to relay false and inaccurate information for selfish gains (Cavalier 43). They lure people to traps where they rob them and subject them to bad experiences such as rape. In rare occasions, some people lose their lives. The internet is also flooded with uncontrolled advertising, which is annoying and frustrating to many users of the internet. A good example of such is pop-ups. They interfere with activities of internet users by directing their attention to useless and irrelevant information (Cavalier 45). Conclusion The emergence and subsequent development of internet-based technologies has brought a radical shift in the way people conduct their businesses and other activities such as household chores and shopping (Cavalier 67). The internet is an important tool for students and researchers because it offers a wide variety of information in various thematic areas of interest to them (Cavalier 69).Advertising We will w rite a custom essay sample on Effects of the Internet specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More However, the internet presents many challenges to society. They include the availability of pornographic content and false information. Obviously, the internet has influenced the way people conduct activities in the contemporary world (Cavalier 75). 7 Harsh Reasons You Havenââ¬â¢t Gotten A Raise
7 Harsh Reasons You Havenââ¬â¢t Gotten A Raise Youââ¬â¢ve been loyal, put in the time, done your best work, kissed the appropriate amount of derriere. Why, then, you ask, have you yet to get that raise or get promoted? Your last performance review doesnââ¬â¢t show any reasons why you shouldnââ¬â¢t be moving up the ladder. You work hard and you deserve it? Right! Well, maybe. But there are several reasons why you might not be getting the nod. Take a quick step back from the situation and see whether any of these possible impediments apply to you before freaking out or destroying the office printer with a baseball bat.1. You didnââ¬â¢t ask. This seems obvious, but itââ¬â¢s probably the number one reason people donââ¬â¢t get promoted or donââ¬â¢t get the extra pay theyââ¬â¢re sure they deserve. It might feel uncomfortable to do it, but you have to make your needs known. If you donââ¬â¢t ask outright, your company is unlikely to just offer you extra money or a rung up the ladder. Arm yourself with some examp les of your demonstrated value to the company, take a deep breath, and make your request.2. You werenââ¬â¢t properly prepared.Or maybe you did ask, but didnââ¬â¢t come in armed and prepared to defend yourself with evidence and a proper request. If you canââ¬â¢t list your accomplishments and prove your value to your boss, sheââ¬â¢s not likely to agree to give you more. Bottom line: be prepared with statistics about your field and examples of your own accomplishments.3. Youââ¬â¢re not enough of a team player. You may be killing it as far as your responsibilities go, but are you reaching out and making it about the team and not just yourself? Your performance itself might be stellar, but you could easily lose out on a promotion because youââ¬â¢re only doing your job well, and not thinking enough about the team.4. You made it personal.Instead of focusing on and honing the argument for why you really deserve this raise based on your work, you made it about personal reaso ns. Next time you ask, think about step #2 and go in with a slew of facts and figures to support your request. Show off your accomplishments, pull out market research. Really dazzle.5. Your value stagnated. You might be crazy valuable, but if your value isnââ¬â¢t steadily improving with time, that still counts as not being valuable enough for that raise or promotion. Try taking a class or getting a new certification or skill and trying again. Expand your range and responsibilities so you can demonstrate the curve of your efforts.6. Your company is strapped. It might not be you at all. It could be office politics (in which case, learn to play that game ASAP) or it could be that your company just plain canââ¬â¢t afford it. Or perhaps your manager doesnââ¬â¢t have the bandwidth to advocate for you.If there is company dysfunction afoot, there are things you can fix and things you canââ¬â¢t. Try to figure out what your future prospects might be at this company. Talk to your bos s. If youââ¬â¢re going to stagnate for years, maybe start looking around for other, higher paying opportunities elsewhere. Make sure youââ¬â¢re being appreciated!7. You donââ¬â¢t deserve it.Thereââ¬â¢s always the risk that your perceptions of your own performance and value are just a little bit different from how others perceive you or the reality of the situation. In this case, try to systematize your value and see what you find out. Compare yourself across the industry, against your colleagues. Outline your accomplishments, then look them over with a cynical eye. Would you promote you? If the answer is no, make sure you get to work changing that answer.

Causes of income inequality in the UK and evaluate the measures that Essay
Causes of income inequality in the UK and evaluate the measures that could be used by the UK government to achieve a more equal distribution of wealth - Essay Example and Scott, G., 2012). The same cannot be said for high manual labor demanding jobs characterized by unpredictable shortages of skilled manpower. These have higher individual income rates than high growth rate jobs. The service sector in the UK which demands for low-skill and has limited trade union cover is the worst in terms of worker remunerations. The sector is often characterized by employment insecurity and unclear job descriptions which vary depending on the market demand, employersââ¬â¢ unique needs as well as personal pressures/ stress/ problems. The effect of globalization has seen an influx of high-skill jobs especially in high growth industries. Persons with unique skills are increasingly getting well paid than witnessed in previous years. Academic exposure has also defined the industrial/ job variations with professionals being scaled depending on their levels of education (Mooney, G. and Scott, G., 2012). This is the main factor determining labor as skilled, un-skille d, manual, automated, permanent, contractual and casual, among other classifications within the United Kingdom. State benefits including unemployment income and benefits from the state welfare are critical in the United Kingdom individual income disparities. This is because the state benefits are directly connected to the prevailing retail prices within the economy and not in any way indexed to the earnings of individuals (Eibel, D., Rockika, E., and Leaman, J., 2013). This explains why relative incomes of people who are state benefit oriented decreases over time. This factor has defined the inflation effect on large families surviving on minimum wage as well as householdsââ¬â¢ dependant on pension. The third factor in unequal income distribution is unemployment. This affects income distribution in both the short-run and long-run. In the long-run it affects education, quality of labour as well

Research design (Qualitative, Quantitative, and mixed methods Paper
Design (Qualitative, Quantitative, and mixed methods approaches) - Research Paper Example The use of sub-questions would be useful exploring the answers to the research question. Qualitatively written questions help in gaining an understanding of essential reasons, motivations, and opinions. It offers perceptions into the problem or rather helps in developing ideas or assumptions for prospective quantitative research. In addition, qualitative research is used to expose trends in opinions, and expound further into the problem (Petty, Thomson, & Stew, 2012). The techniques for data collection in qualitative research methodology include individual interviews, focus group, and observation. All of these will be useful in researching Green Logistics Chain and Issues because the sample size remains typically small also requires an exploratory research approach. The two forms of writing quantitative research questions include descriptive research questions and comparative research questions. Descriptive research questions aim at describing the variables being measured (Petty, Thomson, & Stew, 2012). The word describe implies that the research questions seek to quantify variables one intends to measure. For instance, the question that begins like, how much, how often, and what percentage are usually used in describing quantifiable variables. Descriptive research questions concentrate on just one variable and a group though they can comprise multiple variables or even groups. Comparative research questions seek to examine the variances between two groups on single dependent variables. Such questions typically begin by asking "what is the variation in" (Amelina, 2012). Descriptive research questions are essential for the quantitative research in answering this topic. For instance, how much CO2 results from Freight transport emissions. The desc riptive research question will attempt to find out the quantity or amount of CO2. Mixed methods research questions apply various

Business Research Essay Example for Free
Business Research Essay Our research is concerned with the different factors affecting revenue of fast food restaurant located in close proximity of educational institutions. The purpose of the research is to study how exactly consumers disposable income impact the fast food restaurants revenue. For conducting the research, the sample of data has been taken from students; teachers and administrators of two colleges say Bangalore Management Academy and CRM IMS. The results reveal that restaurants make much profit on school days and less profit when closed because the success of the restaurants depends on consumerââ¬â¢s disposable income. INTRODUCTION. INTRODUCTION A fast food is a food that can be cooked and served very quickly sold in restaurant. We noticed in the last decade, a growth of fast food restaurants in India as Indian eating-out habit has considerably increased. This phenomenon is also observed where we could daily see a flux of adolescent and youngest population and that places are nothing but nearby educational institutions. The targeted customers are mostly students, teachers, administrators and people located in close proximity to educational institutions and the aim of the restaurants owners is to make profit, maximize and sustain their revenue. However it exist a relationship between restaurantââ¬â¢s location, revenue, and consumers disposable income. PROBLEM STATEMENT Although, building a fast food nearby educational institutions is the most suitable way to get many customers and make more profit but this also can have bad side effect because it is not taking in consideration of some factors like consumerââ¬â¢s income, and schools days. HYPOTHESIS Variation of consumerââ¬â¢s disposable income impact the revenue of fast food restaurants located in close proximity of educational institutions. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY This proposed research will determine the factors affecting educational institutionsââ¬â¢ proximity fast food restaurants revenue. STATEMENT OF THE QUESTIONS What are the students and school administrators eating-out habits? What are their disposable incomes? How do their spend it? In what way consumerââ¬â¢s disposable income affects the educational institution proximity fast foodââ¬â¢s revenue? SCOPE AND LIMITATION The scopes of this research are the fast food restaurants located in close proximity to educational institutions. The limitations of the research are the restaurants that are not reachable by the educational institutional members which are allowed to participate in the research. LITERATURE REVIEW LITERATURE REVIEW One of the rising businesses that have become a considerable phenomenon in India is fast food restaurant. Caused by Indian eating out habit that becoming very popular, fast food restaurants is also slated to growth approximately by 20% per year (Gaurav Marya, 2012). Fast foods business have been such that they continuously changing along with the time and life style changing and they get adapted to immigration, travel as well as socio-economic environment (Kittler and Sucher, 1995). However, in order to attract customers, fast food restaurants afford different foods at different prices according to consumerââ¬â¢s income and eating habit. The restaurateurs have a clear understanding of the customerââ¬â¢s perceptions (Sundaram et al. , 1997) as they create a special attention to the environment around schools where children and younger are vulnerable to repeated exposures (Kelly et al., 2008). Revenue is the most important in any business and restaurant industry face a challenge which is of sustaining their profitability. Kimes (2004) suggest that the elements that determine the potential of a restaurantââ¬â¢s revenue is the capacity directly related to the quality of service and configuration of tables. The customersââ¬â¢ satisfactions may be influenced by the effect that a particular restaurant gives back to him and their associate that perception to the type of restaurant (Noone et al. , 2007:233). However, the time of increase or decrease of revenue depends on the customerââ¬â¢s disposable income that goes in parallel way with the restaurants ownersââ¬â¢ policy. If the customers perceive the policy unfair they may be reluctant (Mc Guire and Kimes, 2006:123). Few studies have shown a great success of restaurants businesses in this recently years. METHODOLOGY METHODOLOGY RESEARCH DESIGN The research will involve the role play by the consumerââ¬â¢s disposable income on restaurants revenue through constructed and structured questionnaire that we would give to restaurantââ¬â¢s owners and educational institutional members to fill out the needed data. The interview scheduled is comprised of two sections. 1 ââ¬â Collection of information about consumers and their disposable income 2 ââ¬â Accumulation of information regarding location and annual turnover of the business SAMPLING Our study will follow the multistage stratified method of sampling based on some criterion to select the person and restaurants to conduct the research. Educational institutions members will be divided into three groups: Students, Teachers and Administrators. The next sampling group will be the schools proximities fast food restaurants owners. DATA COLLECTION TOOLS The primary data sources used to collect data are structured questionnaires that will be submitted to students and owners of fast food restaurants located to close proximity educational institution and educational institutionââ¬â¢s members. Along with questionnaires, interviews also will be conducted. The secondary data will be collected through various publications, newspapers, websites and magazines. CONCLUSION CONCLUSION. The research was conducted on variations of educational institutions close proximities restaurantsââ¬â¢ revenues and these restaurantsââ¬â¢ customersââ¬â¢ disposable income and their food habit. It was conducted in Bangalore city among restaurants owners and students, administrators of particular schools; therefore, it has been possible to collect data from a small sample keeping in mind limitations. The result has then been gathered through qualitative as well as quantitative data collections and analysis by questioning and interviewing restaurantââ¬â¢s owners and customers. At the end of the study, it seems that the rise of fast food restaurants number in close proximity to educational institutions is a method to attract more targeted customers in order to make more profit. This is attractive method goes along with the consumers eating-out habit and conditioned by the main factor which is consumerââ¬â¢s disposable income. The restaurants then depend on the consumerââ¬â¢s disposable income. When this income is low customers eat less food or low price foods so they spend less money and the restaurants revenue is less a this period. But in the case their income is much then customers eat much and revenue of the restaurants is high. The second factor is the school program. The restaurants owners should consider also the opening and closing program of the educational institutions near which they located their business.
